I've had four awesome sessions so far, and I learn something new every time. It's been so much fun! However, what has been slightly less fun is the post-processing that follows the shoot. Doing so many sessions made it apparent very quickly that my workflow is taking much longer than I ever realized.
So, my next action was easy to predict. I set out to improve my workflow, and finally understand exactly what the purpose of Lightroom really is. Apparently it's purpose is to solve this exact problem, but the irony is that a great way to slow down an already slow process is to change it to something new and different. "Investment" I keep telling myself, it's an investment in the free time I dream of having someday in the future.
Finally these long nights of investment are starting to pay off, and there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you too have been struggling to understand Lightroom, and pondering the age old question "where did my picture go?" I recommend Scott Kelby's book Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers.

Life = Risk
I saw this video on someone's blog a while back and it made me smile.

Booked Through September!
A few weeks ago I officially started my business. I launched with a special for friends and family that filled up immediately, and I'm now completely booked through September! It looks like I'm in for a wile ride, and I'm loving every minute of it!
Now that I'm booked through September, I have to answer the question "What next?". There are so many things to do! In addition to the boring stuff like updating my web site and finding an accountant, I'm working on some really great product additions and also something special and super fun for October. Stay tuned!

Guess Who Learned to Pedal?
Niall got a tricycle for his birthday back in March, and since then we've been pushing him around on it. I think maybe because we don't have a good space for him to practice, learning to pedal took a while. But last Friday, as soon as he sat down he just started pedaling! He ran right into into the garage door! Hopefully with more practice we can get rid of the handle. Then we'll have a different problem - keeping up with him!

Splashing!

What a beautiful day! Niall spent the afternoon playing with his cousins in their backyard kiddie pool. Luckily we just got a waterproof case for our Canon G9 - yeah! Jude was taking all the pictures today, check out this splashing shot he caught. I love it!

Back From Vacation!
I'm back! We had a fabulous Fourth of July in Oregon visiting friends. I was so drained before we left that my main goals were to catch up on sleep, get some exercise, and get an hour or two of time to myself. What a difference that made! Now that I'm back I've been burning up my to-do list in a whirlwind of energy and efficiency.
I'm back, fully recharged, and ready to go! As part of my new "fully rested" initiative it's almost my bed time. I think sleep might be the next big thing for me, I feel like a new woman!
